Which control panel do i need?

Find the correct motor code

The first step is to identify your motor. There are usually several motor versions of each product. You can't always tell by looking, and we can't always tell from a photo.

Each motor has an ID plate or sticker that states the product code, as well as voltage, power, serial number etc. You need to get the "TIPO" number. Tipo just means type in Italian.

               Control Panel Functions Explained

24Vdc motors are more efficient, so are used on frequent use applications such as apartment block and car parks. They can also be fitted with battery backups.

This symbol means CAME key compatible. This is a Wifi tool for installers to setup a system and monitor it.

Three phase motors are only used in the most powerful openers. This is old technology. Only industrial sites have 3 phase power available. There are few safety features built into 3 phase controllers.

CAME Connect is the cloud access device for control panels. It allows users to operate the gate from a smartphone, and gives support engineers remote access to the controller.

Brushless are low voltage motors with 3 or more windings. Speed and therfore position are controlled precisely. The controllers are complex and expensive.

CAME's wireless safety devices are named RIO. This symbol means the controller can take the plug-in interface and programming for RIO wireless devices.

Most motors have encoders now. Encoders monitor motor revolutions giving the controller movement and position information necessary for pressure sensing.

CAME's wireless safety devices are named RIO. This symbol means the controller can take the plug-in interface and programming for RIO wireless devices.

Battery operated devices that send their signal via radio signal to the controller.

Battery operated devices that may or may not send their signal via radio signal to the controller.

Control Panel User interface

DIP switches Small PCB based switches for setting function
Navigation buttons Small PCB based buttons for selecting and editing parameters on a display
LED display Numerical only display, usually 3 digits for programming. Used with navigation buttons
LCD display Graphical display with text prompts. Used with navigation buttons

Control Panel Safety features

Encoder Motor sensor that provides position information, and enables obstacle detection
PSR Pressure sensitive reversal causes the gate to stop or reverse when the gate comes against an obstacle
Amperometric An older obstacle detection system based on measuring current in a 24V motor
Phototest A periodic test of safety device inputs to comply with EN954 cat2.

Control Panel Connectivity

CXN bus 2 wire bus for connecting many compatible safety and command devices
RS485 Serial communication port to link two motors, or connect a controller
CAME key A plug in key used by installers to programme via Wifi connection
CAME connect A plug in connection to the cloud. Allows activation via a phone app

Control Panel Features

Pedestrian open Opens one gate leaf or both only enough for pedestrian access
Partial stop Both leaves pause, then restart in the same direction when the obstruction is removed
Total stop Both leaves stop. Gates only restart on the next command
Man present Man present is a safety mode requiring a wired input to be held for the gate to continue moving
Open only Input mode, applied to multi-user remotes, and used for exit sensors
4 step auto An input that responds to OPEN -STOP -CLOSE -STOP sequence. 2 step auto is OPEN - CLOSE only

Control Panel Outputs

Cycle light A warning light that flashes while the gate or door is moving
Courtesy light Output for driveway lights. Stays on for a while after gate has closed.
Channel B A second radio channel output. Could be used for a garage door.
Ram action Feature to reverse the motor to help release an electric bolt
Maglock A locking magnet for extra security. Power to secure
