IR photobeam with beam rotation 90° each way. Standard wiring of power and isolated relay contact.
The relay output can be set normally closed for safety circuits or normally open for activation. The setting is by a jumper link next to the relay. When the power fails in normally connected mode, the contact goes open circuit (fail safe). When the power fails in normally open mode, the contact closes.
When two or more photobeams are installed near to each other there is a risk of crosstalk. There are three frequency options set on jumper links so that adjacent beams can work on different channels. The transmitter and receiver must be set the same.
There is a white LED indicating the beam is interrupted. It is off in normal correct alignment. The housing is sealed with a rubber grommet. We recommend spraying the inside with WD40 or similar to deter insects.
We recommend photobeams are mounted at least 20cm above ground to avoid reflected light off wet surfaces. Although the range is 20m, it can be difficult to keep the beams aligned sufficiently for reliable operation, and for immunity to vibration and post movement.
The PCB has only one orientation, no angular adjustment. Be sure the surface is perpendicular to the beam. Fix the rain hood to outside walls first, then fix the beam base plate. The device takes a four core cable through a grommet in the bottom. Two terminals for power. Two for the isolated relay contact, set to N/O or N/C.
The setting routine calibrates the range threshold, but 200mm less than the actual position of the target. Threshold can be set by DIP switch or learning. There are 7 presets. For learning set DIPs to 000
When set, the target will not activate the output. The setting procedure will not learn a target over 8m from the device. To learn a threshold range, set all DIPs to OFF, then ……….
Place target in the beam 200mm from threshold
Power up, and wait for the beep. You now have 10secs
Cross beam 5 times at 0.5m from sensor within 4 secs.
There are 5 beeps, then the green light flashes rapidly
Adjust the target if necessary.
When the long beep sounds, the threshold is set
Check operation by moving the target 200mm closer. The setting will be kept on power outs, but do not wave 5 times on power up!
